NAUI launches ‘The Definition of Diving’

NAUI welcomes its evolution of the earliest definitions of diving through its new marketing campaign.

To understand the essence of a term is to define it. For more than 55 years, the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI Worldwide) has developed a legacy of leadership and innovation in the sport of diving. Join NAUI at the 2015 DEMA Show in Orlando, Fla., on Nov. 4 through Nov. 7 at Booth ,1571 to learn more about NAUI’s defining role in the sport.

‘The Definition of Diving’ denotes NAUI’s leadership role in all elements of recreational scuba diving training and education. From the establishment of the first recreational scuba and skin diving (free-diving) instructional standards, to its involvement in dive equipment development, its production of advancements in diving research and decompression theory, and its composition of diver training innovations, NAUI established the standards all others in diving follow or emulate.

‘The legacy of leadership and loyalty of NAUI members forms the bedrock for its continued success,’ said NAUI Executive Director Dallas Edmiston. ‘It is that entrepreneurial spirit and innovative mindset that has set NAUI leadership apart. While our past is strong, it’s our future that we’re committed to enhancing, and we are excited about what our leaders are doing in the industry.’

This year at DEMA, NAUI is launching its new website interface (version 1.0), debuting The Dive Team Report podcast, announcing the development of a strategic partnership, publishing codified standards for a NAUI Public Safety Diver certification, evolving its Skin Diver program to championship quality performance free diving capability, and promoting a renewed commitment to the NAUI Green Diver Initiative.

‘There is a lot of excitement and activity this year as we celebrate NAUI’s legacy and its bright future,’ said Edmiston. ‘This is just the beginning of a year full of new and improved products, services and support to our members. It is indeed a great time to be a NAUI member and leader!’

Members will notice a new level of excitement and involvement this year as NAUI moves to reestablish its role as the industry’s leader in dive training and education. NAUI is the essence of diving and is where leaders in diving are made.
