NAUI has its EYE on DEMA Show 2017

Tampa, Fla. (July 6, 2017) – The National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI Worldwide) is experiencing one of its largest growth periods in more than a decade and has its ‘eye,’ or in this case the Orlando Eye, on the 2017 DEMA Show in Orlando, Florida, to showcase the value and quality of its membership and efforts from November 1 to 4.

‘We’re extremely excited about everything that is happening with NAUI,’ said Dallas Edmiston, NAUI’s Executive Director.

‘With new products, affiliates, destinations and opportunities, there really hasn’t been a more rewarding and thrilling time to be a NAUI member. This year we have nearly 40 presentations and events available for our members, designed to express our gratitude for their service and support and to enhance their training and business capabilities.’

Enrich Your First Aid Training

NAUI’s First Aid program has been completely revised. Experienced NAUI instructors are dedicated to dive safety and education. This update is essential to ensuing they are aware and proficient in the latest NAUI and International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) standards for First Aid instruction and return those who require it to active First Aid teaching status.

‘Fortunately, most of us aren’t required to put our First Aid skills and training into practice on a regular basis,’ said Edmiston. ‘However, if you don’t regularly practice or use a skill, it starts to erode. This workshop will not only provide great tools and materials but will ensure we’re up-to-date on the latest techniques and procedures in First Aid.’

Essentials for Leadership Development

‘Effective leadership is the cornerstone of NAUI membership,’ said Edmiston. This four-hour workshop discusses best practices for NAUI leadership and instructor development. Topics include review of the revised leadership standards and training requirements, conducting the new NAUI Familiarization-Instruction-Testing (FIT) program, applying Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in NAUI training programs, and using the new NAUI Candidate Packets, Instructor Guides and materials. Workshop participants will receive a new NAUI FIT Candidate Packet for use with future NAUI candidates and more.

Navigating the NAUI CORE

The new NAUI CORE is the gateway to the most current information on Certifications; Online training programs; leadership Resources and Educational material. During this session, NAUI members learn how to manage their account and students, order material, communicate with their students and teach their students how to continue their diving education in this new secure and convenient information hub offering the latest in NAUI knowledge and news.

‘As NAUI members, we’ve all been waiting for this day to come,’ said Edmiston. ‘This is just another step in the evolution and revitalization of NAUI products and services.’

Assessment of Public Safety Diving

This seminar provides documentable ways to evaluate Public Safety Diving (PSD) instruction, standards, procedures and operations, and it teaches dive leaders how to begin the process of increasing training and operation safety and effectiveness. ‘NAUI has longed to be associated with some of the world’s leading public safety diving trainers,’ said Edmiston. ‘We’re delighted to have NAUI Course Director Walt ‘Butch’ Hendrick (NAUI 1724) provide and discuss some of the most up-to-date PSD information and issues.
