Tampa, FL— The National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI Worldwide), a leader in dive training and certification, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jan Willem van Gelder as the new Regional Manager for Austria and Switzerland. Jan Willem, who brings extensive experience and dedication to the diving community, will expand his current role beyond his successful tenure as Regional Manager for Belgium, France, and the Netherlands.

At 69 years young, Jan Willem van Gelder, hailing from the quaint village of Puiflijk near the German border in the Netherlands, embodies a passion for diving and education that has spanned over four decades. His diving journey began in the Maldives, igniting a fervent pursuit that led to his becoming an Instructor in 2005, an IT in 2011, a CD in 2013, and a CDT in 2016. Jan Willem’s global diving experience and his dedication to teaching from introductory dives to the Instructor’s ITC program showcase his commitment to the sport and to ensuring safe diving practices.

In addition to his diving credentials, Jan Willem has been an educator by profession for 40 years, specializing in hospitality training for Michelin-starred students. His leadership extends into his personal life as well, where he is a grandfather of four, the president of a diving club with eight instructors and ITs, and a devoted husband of nearly 47 years.

Angelo Fiore, NAUI Vice President of Global Sales, expressed his enthusiasm for Jan Willem’s new role, stating, “Jan Willem embodies the spirit and dedication that NAUI stands for. His extensive experience as an educator, both in and out of the water, along with his passion for diving and commitment to safety, make him the ideal choice to support our members in Austria and Switzerland. We are confident that under his guidance, NAUI will continue to thrive in these regions.”

Jan Willem is eager to take on his new responsibilities, remarking, “Austria and Switzerland are countries of unparalleled beauty, and I am excited to work with the members there. I look forward to doing mountains of work together, supporting and enhancing the wonderful work we do as part of the NAUI community.”
