The National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI), a member-driven organization, is reminding members the application time period for its 2023 Board of Directors Election is open.

As the organization prides itself on representing its members’ values, it relies on its Board of Directors to chart a course into the forefront of dive education, business, and to be the collective voice of its members. In the upcoming election, you, as a member, have a unique opportunity to be that voice.

Preparations and Positions

The NAUI Elections Committee is in full swing, preparing for the 2023 Board of Directors election. This year, the organization is looking to fill two (2) Board of Director positions, each with a four-year term. This is a remarkable opportunity to not only make a difference in the diving community but also to hold a significant leadership role within the organization.

Desired Candidate Skills

The NAUI Board of Directors is particularly interested in candidates possessing the following skills:

• Dive Retail and Resort Experience: An understanding of the challenges and opportunities in these sectors will help to drive growth and innovation.
• Brand Management: As a globally recognized brand, effective and innovative brand management skills are essential for NAUI’s continued success.
• Digital Media and Communication: With the digital world playing a pivotal role in modern society, these skills are necessary to effectively communicate NAUI’s values and initiatives.
• Business to Business Partnership Development: The ability to forge and nurture strategic partnerships can significantly boost NAUI’s reach and influence.

Nomination Process

The nominations for candidates opened on May 1, 2023. Nominees looking to be considered for these prestigious positions must send their nominations to the Election Coordinator at NAUI Headquarters by no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on July 28, 2023 (Email: election@naui.org).

Eligible members wishing to run in the Board of Directors election must also complete the Nominee Application packet and obtain the required endorsements to commence their nomination process.

Important Document Review

To ensure that nominees are well-equipped to meet their potential responsibilities, they are required to review two critical documents: ‘Roles and Responsibilities of the NAUI Board of Directors‘ and ‘NAUI Brand Policies and Representing NAUI in Public‘. This review will help to clarify expectations and solidify understanding of NAUI’s standards.

Once all nominee applications have been received, the Elections Committee will review them and develop a candidate slate to be approved by the Board.
